Birthday Boys

April is birthday month for two our boys: Crue and Caleb! Crue had a playdate the day before his birthday so we made yummy monster cupcakes and played games. It was an unofficial celebration!

Two of his best friends, Kate Daniels and Jett Smith.  Kate has become Crue's "girlfriend - wife".  He talks about her all the time and proposes to her every time he sees her.  One day as she was leaving our house he said, "Bye girlfriend wife I'll marry you tomorrow in the temple."

After breakfast we ventured to Chandler Mall to stand in line forever.  The boys went and played but I stood in line so we could meet the actress from Crue's favorite tv show and his musical muse, Austin and Ally. Poor Crue had HORRIBLE allergies that day so he wasn't himself.

SUCCESS!  I almost thought we would get cut off in line but we made it.  The boys each got a signature and pictures.  She signed Crue's guitar and gave them all high fives. We weren't allowed to take pictures with her :(  but the boys loved it and still talk about it all the time!

Best birthday ever!

After our go at being groupie fans we met Nana and Papa at Peter Piper Pizza for dinner!

They gave him a REAL guitar!  Yay! Now he's just like Austin!

Grandma and Grandpa got Crue a super cool microphone!  Thank you! Now he really is a rockstar!

Onto the next birthday!  Caleb doesn't like cake or cupcakes so he wanted popsicles as his school treat! Notice the girls hanging on him...

Caleb is less than enthused about all the attention he gets.  His teacher emailed me about what a distraction Caleb is for all these girls.  Talk about a fan club!

Before his birthday we went to Nana and Papas to celebrate! They gave him an amazing microscope! Perfect for our scientist.

He got a lot of science gifts including magnet projects and these crystals from Abby and Fernando.

So remember Caleb doesn't like cupcakes or cake? I had to get creative for his birthday dinner! I went along with the science thing and incorporated robots - he loved his robot rice krispie treats!

So Caleb really wanted to have a big family dinner for his birthday but we don't have a lot of family here and because of Papa's work schedule we wouldn't be able to do it on his birthday... so we invited some friends to be our family! We had a blast.  It was LOUD but so fun!

So the next day Caleb woke up and went straight to his science experiments!

A week later this is what his crystals looked like!  He wrote a report on it, detailed with pictures and daily journal entries. Excuse me he would tell me to write "observations".

One of Caleb's favorite presents is from Grandma and Grandpa: a keyboard!!! He has been taking lessons for a month now and LOVES it!  He's speeding through his lessons though and his teacher is a little overwhelmed by how fast he learns!  He asks for more homework every time! She said he does 3 days worth of lessons in 1 day.  I'm glad he loves it!!! 

We love these boys so much and can't believe how old they are getting!  I'm glad they had awesome birthdays!
