Summer is fun but I try to make sure they learn too! We have done experiments and trips to the library, museum and other educational places. This is one of our favorite experiments we did... DRY ICE! We made dry ice bubbles.
We found some bananas growing on our banana plant so we had an "agriculture day" and talked about plants before going to the farmers market. We came home and made LOTS of strawberry jam!
Caleb used his chore punch cards to buy this T-Rex replica. To further the dinosaur education we took a trip to the Museum of Natural History with the Brimhalls! We always love going there!
We drove out to Apache Junction to visit the library that has an awesome castle and playground.
They found a dinosaur egg.
They played with the green screen technology... Kellan was out of control.
Caleb gave a wonderful performance during his puppet show.
The boys have to read everyday before they can play video games or watch a movie/TV so they need a lot of books!! We got to the library at least once a week. This year we discovered the Paws 2 Read program where kids can read to animals. The first time Caleb read to this macaw, Buddy.
Yesterday we did it again and Caleb chose the German Shepherd, Gus. He was such a sweet dog!
The other boys got to read this time too! Kellan chose Jamie. She was a sweetheart too!
I was nervous because Crue has a history of being scared of dogs but he was in heaven!
A couple weeks ago we went to the Reptile presentation at the library. We got unclose with two iguanas and three snakes! The boys got to pet this beast!
The library is near a preserve so sometimes we get there early before it's too hot and we explore! We find so many animals. The boys favorites are the rabbits, dragonflies and turtles.
We do enjoy the ducks too!
One of our turtles, Stormer, started beating up the other one and actually bit a chunk off his shell so we had to relocate him to this big pond. There are tons of turtles here so the boys were thrilled that he would have lots of friends.
Nana helped make summer extra educational by hosting her first annual, "Nana's Book Fair". She's so creative and awesome! The boys loved it. They got to "buy" books, coloring books, pencils, pens and puzzles with Nana's quarters. She even had a check out and receipts! They got a lot of great stuff and are set to pass the time!
The boys got to decorate their new book bags. Kellan drew a picture of himself with Nana!
We have been putting our membership to the science center to good use!!! It's one of our favorite places.
The boys could spend all day there learning, building, experimenting and playing.
They love the mind game!
Caleb pretending to be a zombie.... GROSS!
We're so glad Nelly, Ben, Emerson and Papa could come with us last time!
I think this was Papa's favorite part!
Crue loved the air table where you could hover balls in mid air... but just because it blew his hair around.
Bed of nails!
Lifting their body weight!
How much fun fits in this building?!?! SO MUCH FUN!!!! We can't wait to go back!
