Chris' birthday weekend!

Crue was so excited to wish Daddy Happy Birthday this year!!!
We gave Dad an LED wreath to help him win this years neighborhood light contest.
Nana and Papa wanted to help out with the contest plus just make our house awesome with a snowman to go by our door.  Crue loves that snowman!  The lights on the tree light up and Crue thinks it's magic.
So the boys had their semi-championship football games the Saturday of Dad's birthday so we had a birthday lunch, went to both games... then Kellan made it to the actual championship game but we missed it so we could drive up to Flagstaff.  We decided the day before to go on this spontaneous birthday trip. The boys made sure it was a vacation by hitting the hotel pool.

At the hotel the boys went through all the tourist pamphlets they had and planned our Sunday activities.  We started with driving to the crater.  Lots of awesome things for our scientist!

Crue was loving it too!
It was a pretty impressive crater!
We hiked to the highest lookout and the boys got so scared.  It was so cold and VERY WINDY! Crue at one point was clutching the railing and screaming, "I'm scared of heights!! I'm scared of heights!" But we all survived and got a good picture.

The boys wanted this picture to scare Nana because she really is scared of heights!
Caleb could've stayed longer!
But our next stop was Bearizona.  It was a drive through zoo with lots of wildlife.  We saw deer, elk, sheep, bison, wolves and of course, bears.  It was pretty awesome.
The wolves came right up to our car  - doors were locked, windows up - The arctic wolves started howling and it was really cool.

This is Crue's "Is there a bear behind me?" face.

This giant just walked right in front of our car.
At the end of the tour you can get out and walk around enclosures with smaller animals and baby bears.

We went straight to the train station from Bearizona for our trip on the Polar Express.  We changed into pajamas in the car - well the boys did - and had time to check out the trains.

One of the characters from the movie.

Crue was pretty excited as you can tell to board the train.

We had hot cocoa and cookies, listened to the Polar Express story and then went to the North Pole!

We sang songs and then waited for Santa
Crue's faces were the best! This is right when Santa walked into the train car.
As he started walking closer...
And even closer!
He was so happy he kept hugging us!

Getting their special bell!

Crue's PJ's say, "Dear Santa, Define Good." We thought it was pretty appropriate!
THey love their bells!

Afterwards we wrote letters to Santa and visited Mrs. Claus

We had to check out the lights before getting in the car and heading home.  It was an awesome weekend!!!
